The analysis of the data shows that the general-education school network encompasses all settlements in which there is the minimum number of pupils necessary for their functioning.

The data for some of the villages show that the small number of the pupils and the comparative low filling of the divisions  - (10 -11 pupils) do not guarantee the normal conditions for carrying out of the educational process. This is valid for the primary schools in the villages of Panagyurski Kolonii, Levski, Elshitsa, Banya, Poibrene and Oborishte with a total of 640-660 pupils. For this reason they are categorized as schools in a crisis with limited potentialities for their preservation. Their gradual closing down does not free the municipal authorities from the obligation provide normal conditions for the education of the children living in those villages. One of the ways to do that is the so-called students' commuting.

There is one special (social) educational institution on the municipality's territory. This is the Home for Children and Youths "P. Bobekov" (for orphans and poor children). There are three groups with a total of 55 children in it.

The infrastructure of vocational education includes three schools:

  • Technical Secondary School of Mechanics “Eng. N. Belopitov”
  • Technical Secondary School of Light Industry “Raina Knyaginya”
  • Mining and General Technical Secondary School “At. Bourov”

All three vocational schools are situated in the municipal centre Panagyurishte. They have over-municipal functions, i.e. they also admit pupils from the neighbouring municipalities. The capacity of the vocational-education infrastructure is as follows:

  • total number of the pupils - 1 011
  • total number of the divisions - 46
  • total number of the pedagogical staff -

The strategic directions in the sphere of vocational education are connected with the idea of regional centres for qualification in which the whole future professional qualification of the human resource is to be acquired. Such a qualification centre in the professional field Machinery Construction and Apparatus Construction is to be founded on the municipality's territory by the merging of the Technical Secondary School of Mechanics and the Mining and General Technical Secondary School.
